Q: The wizard has a lot of pages. Do you have to go through all of those pages to create a report?
A: No! The first page - the Measurements Page is the heart of the system. Fill it out - jump to the pages for any other particular problems such as a worn ball joint and then click DONE. Seconds later, you have a report. Techs and Service Writers quickly learn how to jump through the Wizard and produce a report.
Q: What's up with the numbers for brake fluid and coolant?
A: We rely on test strip results for brake fluid anti-corrosion values and coolant ph and freeze point. Numbers are easy to sell and they really mean something.
Q: How are the values for green, yellow red set?
A: One of the setup pages lets you set the thresholds for yellow and red for measured values. As originally installed, the program defaults to green as if you were checking, say, a 2006 car.
Q: Does the program support state safety inspections for all states?
A: No. For the defects covered by the wizard, the report can show items that are inspection failure items in Virginia, but it is not a comprehensive state inspection reporting system. If your state's inspection requirements are the same as Virginia, this function can be a powerful sales tool. It can be turned off in the administrative function if it does not apply. Plans for future versions include the ability to tailor the safety inspection feature to your state.
Q: I see items on cars that are not covered on the wizard pages. What do I do?
A: This release of the wizard attempts to cover the “high points” of all systems on the car. Some valid inspection points may be missing and we welcome your suggestions for future versions. Until then, the REMARKS function allows techs to highlight any defects not covered in the wizard pages.
Q: I have multiple computers in my shop. Does the program support networked computers?
A: Absolutely! On the Administrative pages, you can define the location of the database on the network so all report records are stored in a central location. Techs can record their inspection results without generating the report. The Service Writer can call up the Courtesy Check on demand and then print the report for the customer.
Q: I only have one computer for my Service Writer. How do we record inspection results?
A: Have your techs provide written measurement and inspection results to your Service Writerto be put into the wizard. You still get all the benefits of the program.
Q: I have three shops. Can I use one license for all my shops?
A: No. You need to buy a license for each shop. It is illegal (and dishonest) to use the program in violation of the terms of the license. You can install the program on all of the computers at a single location.
Q: The shop down the street has seen the wizard and wants to try it. Can I let them borrow my copy?
A: No. That would violate the license agreement. Tell them to download the demo from aeidataworks.com and, and if they like what they see, buy a working license. Satisfaction is guaranteed.
Q: I don't have any computers. What should I do?
A: You're missing out on a valuable money-making tool. Call us for advice on getting started.
Q: I don't do courtesy checks. How can I get started?
A: The wizard can lead you and your staff through the courtesy check process. For further training on the benefits of courtesy checks and other profit-generating tools and techniques, contact the Automotive Training Institute. You have a lot to gain.
Q: I see some things in the wizard I would like to change. How do I do that?
A: Your input is welcome. E-mail cc_support@aeidataworks.com with your suggestions.
Q: What other tools are available from AEI Dataworks?
A: We are currently testing AEI Timeclock which records both attendance and time expended on tasks. Payday is easier and you can start to figure out where your techs' time is going. Absolutely necessary if you are using flat rate or any other incentive-based compensation system. We also have tools related to Gilbarco G-Site POS systems. Contact us for more information.

Tour Guide

View the Courtesy Check Wizard tour, print the sample report and see for yourself how our product can bring a new level of professionalism and PROFIT to your shop.
The Tests and Measurements page is displayed allowing you to enter the “vital statistics” for the vehicle. Test strips are used to check the brake fluid and coolant condition. (It's easy to sell flushes when you give the customer a number indicating it's needed. Much better than "Your fluids don't look too good..")
From here, you can click DONE and produce the report or click NEXT and proceed through the many categories of checks. You can also JUMP from the current page to any other page in the wizard. After a few times using the wizard, your techs will know how to quickly navigate to areas of concern to record their findings.
